Testing and sample collection are available at a variety of locations, including Walmart®, Quest Patient Service Centers, and other pop-up sites. Appointments are required at all locations. Locations available to you may vary based on your location and if you have symptoms.

This COVID-19 no-cost-to-you program is available to eligible individuals for $0 out of pocket when billed to a health plan or the government.

Individuals also have the right to have testing without submitting to insurance or the government for reimbursement. Individuals who want to pay for the testing and do not plan to seek reimbursement can purchase a COVID-19 Molecular Test or a COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test (NY Only) from QuestDirect. QuestDirect is unable to provide a receipt that contains the information generally required by health plans for reimbursement.

This program includes both Molecular (eg, PCR) and Rapid Antigen tests (Rapid Antigen tests are available at limited New York State locations).

Molecular tests check for genetic material produced by the virus (viral RNA) to determine if someone is currently infected. These tests are generally better at detecting infections than antigen tests. Likewise, antigen tests check if someone is currently infected with the COVID-19 virus, however, they look for viral proteins instead of RNA. It is important to note that antigen tests have a lower sensitivity than molecular tests, which may result in a higher false negative rate and a need for additional testing.

This program is available to eligible individuals ages 2 and older. Patients between the ages of 2 and 17 must be accompanied to their appointment by a parent or legal guardian. This may vary based on the age of majority in your state.

Molecular (eg, PCR) test results are available within 1-3 days.

If you require testing for a specific activity, schedule your appointment with as much lead time as your activity allows.

Recommended time to get tested varies based on need. If you’re getting tested for travel or entertainment, check the testing requirements of the venue or carrier, and schedule your appointment within the required window. Please refer to our estimated turnaround times and ensure you leave time to receive your results.

You will receive a secure email with your results when they are available. If you’d like to view these results in MyQuest, our secure patient portal, you must log into MyQuest and ensure you have verified your identify. If you’d like to view your child’s result in MyQuest, you must follow instructions to add your child to your MyCircle.

High-risk individuals who test positive for COVID-19 and who have had mild to moderate symptoms for no longer than 10 days from onset of symptoms may qualify for monoclonal antibody treatment.

Monoclonal Antibodies (mAb) help the immune system recognize and respond more effectively to COVID-19. In high-risk patients, mAb treatment has been shown to decrease the severity of COVID-19 symptoms and reduce the rate of hospitalization.*

mAb treatment has the most clinical benefit during the earliest stages of infection. All those who receive a positive COVID-19 molecular test result through QuestDirect will be contacted by PWNHealth to evaluate eligibility and, if appropriate, prescribe treatment.

The FDA has issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) to permit mAb products for the treatment of mild-to-moderate COVID-19.

COVID-19 is the name for the respiratory syndrome caused by infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). COVID-19 is highly contagious. Cases of COVID-19 range from mild to severe. Most people infected with this virus have mild symptoms. Some people who are infected don’t have any symptoms and don’t feel sick but can still transmit the virus to others. More severe cases of COVID-19 have been seen in older adults and those with weakened immune systems or pre-existing health issues. However, serious illness can also occur in younger adults.

The World Health Organization has declared COVID-19 a pandemic.

SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) spreads easily from person-to-person, even when an infected person is not showing symptoms. When an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks, droplets containing the virus go into the air. These droplets can be inhaled or land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby, exposing them to the virus. People may also be exposed to COVID-19 by touching their eyes, nose, or mouth after touching a surface with the virus on it. Although this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads, researchers are still learning more about COVID-19.

Symptoms include fever, loss of smell, coughing, sore throat, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, feeling weak or lethargic, chills, muscle pain, lightheadedness or dizziness, headache, vomiting or diarrhea, slurred speech, and/or seizures.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offers many resources on COVID-19, including symptoms.

This test may be helpful if you:
  • Currently have COVID-19 symptoms including fever, cough, shortness of breath, and/or loss of taste or smell. Other less common symptoms may include tiredness, body or muscle aches, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sore throat, and/or runny or stuffy nose
  • Live or work in a place where people reside, meet, or gather in close proximity (this can include healthcare settings, homeless shelters, assisted living facilities, group homes, prisons, detention centers, schools, and workplaces)
  • Have been in close contact with someone who has a confirmed case of COVID-19
  • Your employer, public health department, contact investigator, or healthcare provider has identified you as someone who should get tested
  • You are visiting a place that requires testing prior to arrival

This test may not be helpful if you:
  • Currently have severe symptoms that limit your daily activities. Seek medical attention right away if this is the case
  • Have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 3 months, no longer have symptoms, and you do not need a test to travel or attend an event
  • Want to determine if you have antibodies

Most of our locations offer molecular testing only, but select locations offer rapid. If rapid is available in your location, it will be an option after you enter your zip code.

This test may be helpful if you:
  • Do not have symptoms of COVID-19 and would like to use the test result to resume social activities
  • Plan to visit a location or establishment that requires testing prior to arrival

This test may not be helpful if you:
  • Currently have COVID-19 symptoms. These include, but are not limited to, fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea
  • Have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 10 days
  • Have come in close contact with an individual confirmed or suspected to have COVID-19 in the last 10 days

Test results will confirm whether or not you are infected with COVID-19.

If your results are positive, it is important to contact your healthcare provider immediately, self-isolate, and monitor your symptoms.

If your results are negative, you were most likely not infected with COVID-19 at the time of sample collection. However, it is important to note that in some cases there is not enough SARS-CoV-2 RNA or antigen in the sample to detect the virus (false negative). This can happen in a certain percentage of cases during the stages of infection. If you are experiencing symptoms, it is important to follow up with a healthcare provider for further evaluation, and to take protective measures to avoid infecting others. Negative results do not mean that you are not at risk for contracting or spreading COVID-19.

It is important that you discuss your test results with your doctor and follow public health guidance about safety precautions.
