Guidelines recommend that all sexually active women under 25 be tested annually for chlamydia and gonorrhea. Testing for trichomoniasis is recommended if you experience vaginal discharge or have pain during urination or sexual intercourse.
Women over 25 at higher risk (have a new partner or have several partners, don't always use condoms, or use drugs and alcohol) should also be tested every year.
It is also recommended that pregnant women be screened for chlamydia and gonorrhea in their first trimester.
Treatment is easy
Treatment is so simple, that there is no reason not to get tested. Chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis are all easily treatable, and curable, with antibiotics.
Symptoms are rare
Women with chlamydia, gonorrhea, or trichomoniasis don’t always have symptoms. You could have an infection and not know it.
